It’s the total file size rather than the bitrate which you need to consider.. A track lasting ten minutes can have the same bitrate as a track one minute long. At 128 kbps it works out at about one Mb per minute. 700 Mb is the largest capacity CD. The other consideration is quality. The small file size of mp3s is obtained by discarding audio information. Remove too much and the result is unusable. The absolute, rock bottom, just might just work ratio is 96 kbps. I don’t have any tracks at that ratio but as a guide if all the tracks, as an example, are 4.5 Mb in size at 128 kbps then 155 will fit on a 700 Mb CD. You might gain another 2 – 3 tracks at most if compressed to 96 kbps. It would have been a help to know how many tracks you have to give an estimate of how many disks you need.
