Venus is a nasty sort of place. But there are unlimited possibilities of other kinds of life that we might not be able to recognize with our telescopes and two one-hour-life space probes. There may or may not be any there; the Soviet era Venera probes weren’t designed to do detailed scientific research. They were designed to survive and take pictures, which they did – barely.
