Is there any relationship between NPI and the Unique Physician Identification Number (UPIN)?
The NPI will replace the UPIN in the Medicare program. If it ends up that we need to enroll IVF as a subpart and the subpart number must be used when submitting all claims, I presume we will also need to apply for a new group with Medicare. Would that be correct? Please contact Medicare. The CMS website which contains Medicare NPI information can be found at: www.cms.hhs.gov/NationalProvIdentStand/.
