Is there any reason why I couldn take OTC meds to alleviate nicotine withdrawal symptoms?
Tink, I am not a smoker, but I have used smokeless tobacco for about 30 years. I tried to stop without any any assistance and found that it was just to hard to do. I had none of the symptom that you describe, but I did become quite irritable. I went to the WalMart Pharmacy and purchased the citrus Nicorette gum and found that it helped me tremendously. You do not need a prescription and can buy it OTC. You must be at least 18 years old to buy. I found that at two weeks out that the desire to use tobacco decreased and I was satisfied with the gum. The irritability also became much less and I found that my breathing had gotten better. It really does work. It is a little expensive, but it will save you alot of money overall once you totally stop using tobacco. One thing though. When using it, you need to have made up your mind that it is time to quit. If there are any doubts about quitting, wait before using it. Also, don’t use the gum or patch and continue to smoke, as you can have serio
