Is there any reason why dye would not take to freshly bleached hair?
Ignore the above post. “A hairdresser told me that putting dye onto freshly bleached hair would not take,it would simply wash out” That isn’t true, for about a day. The reason I say this is when you’ve bleached your hair to a very very light/white colour, it will be damaged and porous. Porous means it’s like a sponge: it takes colour in very quickly, but it will also wash out even quicker. My hair used to be like that, I dyed it and literally a day later it was very faded. It depends on the condition of your hair, end of. If it’s in good condition after it’s bleached (doesn’t snap when you pull it slightly when it’s wet and isn’t dry etc etc), bleaching it can be useful for dyeing it. More times than not, bleaching is the worst thing you can do.
Whoever that hairdresser was obviously had no idea about dying hair. Right after you have bleached your hair and it is dried is the BEST time to put in whatever color you want it to be. The reason is because right after bleaching, your hair becomes like a sponge with lots of little hole to fill in and it has also dried out, so just to make this clear, you could even put kool-aid in your hair right after bleach and it would stay in for quite a while. Trust me, this info. is coming from someone who has experimented on my own hair with bleach time and again with every color of the rainbow. Your hair will take to the color immediately, and the longer you wait after bleaching to dye, if you shampoo and condition your hair also, the color will stay in less long. Hope this info has helped you out.
