Is there any possibility of cooperating with the Shawnee Mission School District and using their indoor facilities?
Tonya replied they did offer some programs last year, but again it is a budget issue because of the expense of using the facility. She stated the City gets whatever the County does not want, so they do not get the prime times that people want to come take lessons. With being able to accommodate such a small amount of people, it was not cost effective to do it again this year. Kathleen asked about some of the new private facilities and what great marketing exposure it could be in an ongoing continuous way to bring people into these exclusive clubs. She is thinking about the facility out west near Falcon Ridge and the new facility in Lenexa with the indoor Olympic pools. They are not being utilized in the evenings for swimming and a lot of people from Shawnee belong to that facility.
