Yes. It is called the protracted withdrawal syndrome. This is due to neurotransmitter depletion, malnutrition, hypoglycemia, autonomic nervous system dysfunction and cortical atrophy. You can read the details in “Beyond the Influence” by Katherine Ketcham and William F. Asbury in chapter 11.
