Is there any overlap with RGGI offset protocols?
Yes. Both the Reserve and Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) have performance-based offset protocols for landfill and livestock operations and for re-foresting of land that has been out of forest cover for a minimum of 10 years . RGGI also has offset protocols for: • Reduction in emissions of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) in the electric power sector • Reduction or avoidance of CO2 emissions from natural gas, oil or propane end-use combustion due to end-use energy efficiency in the building sectorCRTs are not eligible to meet RGGI reduction requirements.
