Is there any other place that deleted items are stored on my computer, besides the Recycle Bin?
All deleted files are somewhere on your computer until the drive is reformatted or re-written (defragging can help overwrite them too). When a file is “deleted” from its directory, all that’s really deleted is its name. There used to be software you can use to recover those files (even after the recycle bin was dumped). This one has a free trial: http://www.winundelete.com I believe the auto-save of Word just saves the actual document, it doesn’t create a separate file. If your auto save is set high (like 20 minutes) and your last auto save was 19 minutes ago, you lose 19 minutes of work. Don’t rely on it. I am a compulsive saver for that very reason; I’ve lost too much work from cats stepping on the keyboard or Windows downloading an update and rebooting while I’m at lunch.
