Is there any natural remedies for ear mites in cats?
I don’t know about vegetable oil, but the shelter/rescue I work for uses mineral oil to suffocate and kill the ear mites and then you have to clean the ears out a couple hours later when the waxy goop has softened in the ear. Very gently clean out with a Qtip being sure not to push any of the junk farther into the ear, but “sweeping” as much out with the Qtip as possible. IF there is anything on the Qtip when you pull it out – DO NOT put it back in the ear…get a new one. Make sure you are also up to date with the flea and tick meds like Frontline or Advantage as these also help prevent against ear mites and other pesky bugs. Good Luck!
