Is there any modern artist that compares with the greats of the past?
You need to define modern, since some people think it means they paint now and are still alive, and others think it started with Picasso or Dali or others who have been dead for some time and who also painted 50-75 years ago. I would say Jim Dine is one of the few I have seen who I would consider modern artist who is very good. Otherwise, I’d have to think about it and maybe look at some examples.
