Well, I would have suggested VLC Media Player – but I agree with you that the interface is slightly dated and simple. Unless you are actually looking for an alternative media player, I would simply suggest making sure that you have the latest version of Windows Media Player and installing a system-wide codec pack. This will allow you to play almost every type of video and audio file in Windows Media Player.
