Answer Hi Kenny– Every state has their own restrictions around abortion, all of these restrictions have to comply with the Supreme Court decision Roe V. Wade – but that’s a broad decision which leaves a lot of room for states to pass restrictive policies. Some states have restrictions that involve the right of a minor to obtain an abortion without their parents consent or knowledge, some states have restrictions on how long you must wait until you can have your abortion after you first contact the clinic (mandatory waiting periods, etc. There are a whole list of different restrictions that various states have imposed on women. The federal government recently passed the Partial Birth Abortion Act which, loosely, prohibits a certain type of abortion procedure called D & X. It is being challenged in the courts right now and it is quite uncertain what the result of that challenge will be.
