Is there any homemade cures for ringworm?
Having caught ringworm once from sale barn goats, your friends who say use athletes foot creme are right. Lotrimin was the one recommended by my doc, and it is entirely safe to use on your horse as well. Humans can get it too obviously. It spreads slowly on/to adults, but very quickly in children. Just thought I’d throw that out there. The tiny tubes of lotrimin will get pretty expensive if your horse has much of it, and I’d be skeptical of it not just becoming an ongoing problem. Listerine (original flavor only) is a great antibacterial/antifungal agent as well, and it doesn’t even have to be the name brand. Don’t use it on sores or wounds unless you have to since it stings, but diluted with 25/75 with water likely will even feel good if your guy is used to spray bottles. If not, a stream can be shot at the spots from a distance or even dabbed on if the horse will tolerate a sopping washrag. If his case is pretty bad, you can even use it full strength at first to help stop the spread.
