Is there any harmful bacteria found in river ganges?
I’m not sure if you’re looking for a specific bacteria… but E-coli and all kinds of viruses in minimal amounts are in almost every river. A dead animal in the water is incredibly likely to cause an e-coli bacterial infection to spread. Do NOT drink any water that hasn’t been tested by your local water department, unless you have an approved filter (like a hiking filter) that meets government standards- or better yet, boil it. The best filters miss most viruses, but boiling water for at least 10 minutes is a great way to ensure a safe, non-diarrhea experience.
