Is there any flexibility in the salaries shown in the GS pay table?
Yes, in addition to the General Schedule pay table that sets the basic pay across government, there are special pay scales for entry level engineers and certain other occupations, as well as locality adjustments that mitigate the cost of living in many parts of the country. In addition, NASA has some flexibility to negotiate salary or offer a recruitment bonus in many cases that would make our offers very competitive with private industry salaries.
