The first DVD title officially encoded with Surround EX is Austin Powers: the Spy Who Shagged Me from New Line Cinema. Release date Nov 16, 1999. Released DVDs with Surround EX encoding as of 6/29/00 include: – New Line Austin Powers:TSWSM – Dreamworks The Haunting – New Line The Astronauts Wife – Columbia Bats – Universal The Bone Collector (DD/DTS) – Columbia The Messanger: The Story of Joan of Arc – MGM/UA The World is Not Enough – 20th Century Fox Fight Club In a recent Sound&Vision article (Feb/March 2000) they mention that sound editor Gary Rydstrom[The Phantom Menance and Terminator 2] is remixing his Oscar winning soundtrack from T2 in THX Surround EX for Artisian Home Entertainment [DVD]. This DVD is due out Aug 29,2000 and will have both DD and DTS tracks encoded with Surround EX.
