No, the application process is identical. Students must submit the UC application November 1-30, selecting the campuses they wish to attend. ELC students will be notified whether they have been admitted to the campuses March 1-31, at the same time as all other freshman applicants. Can any courses taken in ninth grade be counted toward the 11 courses students must complete for ELC consideration? Yes, as long as they are academic courses included on the school’s UC certified course list. The 11 courses must include: 1 unit of history/social science, 3 units of English; 3 units of mathematics; 1 unit of laboratory science, 1 unit of language other than English and 2 units chosen by the student from among the other subject requirements. However, as per current policy, the grades in these ninth grade courses will not be included in the GPA calculation.
