Yes, there is physical difference between the ChatterBox audio and the regular audio cord. The ChatterBox audio cord is a “coiled” type cord, and built-in antenna, works much better when riding on motorcycle. The regular flat looking audio cord from electronics stores, can be flopping up and down loosely in the air, and may distract the riders and passengers. Beside one side of the ChatterBox audio cord’ plug is made at 90 degree angle for connecting to the ChatterBox units. Yes, the ChatterBox regular stereo headsets can be used and worked on Gmrs X1 and FRS X2 units (hear voice / stereo music, and talk to the mic), BUT the regular stereo headsets can’t take advantage of the X1 and X2 noise reducing features. Just remember when you use the regular stereo headsets, you need to get the regular stereo headset extension cords for headset extensionn. Also, if you have NR headset, don’t use Chatterbox stereo HS extension cord with NR headset.
