Is there any danger in not treating adenomyosis?

0

I’ve been diagnosed with adenomyosis after a D&C to remove 2 large fibroids. In fact, 2 large and 4 small fibroids were removed, but the path lab reported adenomyosis and my Ob/Gyn said he found it to be quite extensive and the only treatment is hysterectomy. I’m fairly petrified at the prospect of a major surgery like that and wondered if it would hurt to just leave it until menopause and hope it gets better then. I’m 46, the disease has been causing heavy bleeding and horrible cramps which I have been living with for a couple of years, but I am a little aaemic because of the bleeding, despite taking iron supplements daily.
