Is there any commentary that suggests that Abraham actually DID sacrifice Isaac?
In the story of the sacrifice, Abraham seems to come down from the mount and return to his land alone. There is in fact one view that Isaac was sacrificed, burned, and afterwards brought back to life; this is a Midrash (source unknown) quoted in the halachic compendium Shibolei Ha-Leket Sec.18. According to most Midrashim, Isaac was not sacrificed, but was taken up to Paradise by angels and stayed there for three years (presumably to recover from the shock of being nearly sacrificed); thus Abraham did come down alone. But “you have done this” could refer to binding Isaac and reaching out with a knife to slaughter him, not to actually killing him.
