Is there any chewing gum that does not contain aspartame or sucralose?
What I find to be completely infuriating is when the gum companies continue to market their products as “sugared” however they ALSO, stealthily, add artificial sweeteners such as Aspartame or even Worse, Sucralose! Splenda has always made me violently ill & I’ve avoided it like the plague that it is! However, after being laid low & sickened, we managed to trace back to my gum-chewing habit & discover Sucralose embedded in my supposedly “free of artificial sweeteners” favorite, Wrigley’s Doublemint gum [New Improved Formula – HA!]. A phone call to the company was a hellacious waste of time. Won’t be dealing with That company anytime EVER again. Thank goodness for the Internet! Search engines located a Wonderful company called The Victory Old-Time Candy Store where you can order cases of nostalgic gums & candies, all made from Real Sugar!! [Google nostalgic gum] Their prices are extremely reasonable as well…certainly worth a few days’ wait.
I’ve looked and looked and looked and I can’t seem to find any gum that doesn’t have some sort of artificial sweetener unless you’re talking about bubblegum, which has many sugared gums that contain a ton of sugar and do not freshen breath, but rather destroys teeth and loses flavor in like 30 seconds, maybe less.
They all use fake sugar because they have recently realized that chewing on gum with sugar for hours on end will give you cavities. Now they use Aspartame, Sucralose and etc. , but what the studies are showing now is that these fake sugars are giving headaches and for some people even more severe illnesses.
