Is there any advantages of getting premium gas over regular gas?
The difference between premium and regular gas (Petrol) the Octane rating which is due to a separate process at the refinery. I recommend referring to your auto manufacturer manual concerning your vehicle model and engine. Hi-performance engines normally has higher compression ratio (Normally 9.8:1 or higher) while non-performance engines has lower compression ratio (Normally 9.5:1 or lower). Turbo or supercharged engine has low compression ratio due to the pressure of air into the engine creating absolute pressure (compression). Octane is importance due to the flash point of the fuel which is the ignition or ignited mixture (air/gas) explode. The higher the Octane (Premium+) Rating the higher flash point to prevent pre-ignition or detonation (Knocking) while lower Octane (Regular) rating as a lower flash point. Your car will not run any better using a higher Octane Premium+ fuel (Petrol) if your vehicle does not have a hi-performance engine or has no sign of pre-ignition or detonation
