Is there any advantage in letting the computer go into standby or hibernation mode without closing Dragon?
No, in fact there is a big disadvantage. When you open Dragon and dictate you are actually using a temporary copy of your voice profile. Updates are not made to your permanent profile until you save your user file with the “Save User File” command or close Dragon and answer yes to the save user file prompt. So if you simply walk away from the computer after a day of dictation and there is a power surge or the system locks up for any reason, you lose all of the acoustic data for the day.
