Is there any additional European funding available or funding via the parishes and district councils?
Alex replied that she is not aware of any European funding but she will look into whether funding is available via the parishes and districts. She also made the point that by 2011 the existing funding will cease as it is only available for 3 years. Sustainability is a real issue. Children tend to prefer packed lunches whilst parents tend to want their child to have a hot meal. Can anything be done to address this issue? Alex said that she is finding that children who take packed lunches tend to see what else is available at school and then start to ask their parents for hot meals. There is also a need to “educate” parents about what to put in their child’s packed lunch box. The Chairman thanked Alex for her presentation and asked that any further questions that the Committee may have should be emailed to Angela.
