Is there anti-Americanism overseas?
Currently, we are facing the issues of anti-Americanism abroad and fear of diversity. Anti-Americanism can take the form of political debate or student protest or even, in some cases, discussion in the classroom offering another viewpoint on American foreign or domestic policy. Diversity issues refer to some students being fearful of residing or studying with people from the middle east or the Indian subcontinent. While abroad, your student will have access to international media coverage of world and U.S. events. CNN is broadcast in all countries where we have programs (including Cuba). The coverage is in Spanish if that is the host country language. Sometimes students can be confronted by opinions that do not mirror those at home. They can be confused when they hear a different perspective on US policy overseas.
