Hi, I work in a derm office. The main treatment is usually freezing the skin tag or snipping them off with scissors (usually no stitches, the skin heals on its own). I don’t believe they have ever used a topical to get them off. You can tie them with dental floss or string, keep dabbing with alcohol daily to keep the area from infection and they will fall off in about a week. I had a very large one snipped off by the nurse here 2 months ago. I did not take a shot. It pinched for a second. She dabbed it with a solution to stop the bleeding and then band-aid it. It was not bad to have done.
