Is there an orientation for international students who are admitted to the University of Maryland?
Yes. The Office of International Education Services provides a very useful orientation for international undergraduate and graduate students. Current information on dates and reservation forms can be found on the IES website under the link “Admission of International Students” or http://www.intprog.umd.edu/ies/OrientationF04.html. The International Student Orientation for Fall 2005 will be held on August 23-26. IES also provides a number of resources to help you prepare for your move including information on housing, transportation, health insurance, cheap travel etc. A comprehensive Pre-Arrival Guide is available online. Please also take some time to read the online International Student Resource Guide which provides information on wide range of topics including campus life, student organizations, day care, and adjusting to U.S. culture.
