Is there an organic method for treating scale on my River Birch tree?
I buy organic gardening products from a company called Planet Natural. A search for “scale” on their website came up with the following organic products for the treatment of scale. One in particular is based on canola oil and is totally harmless to the environment. Here is a link to the search results: http://www.planetnatural.com/site/vegol-pesticidal-oil.html I also use Safer Insecticidal Soaps for my routine pest problems. It’s readily available at Wal-Mart or Lowe’s and it’s always done the trick for me. I suspect the tree gets infested each year because the infestation from the previous year isn’t completely eradicated. Or it’s just a tasty tree that the scale rediscovers every year.
