Is there an increased risk in accepting scanned documents?
The Off-Campus Work Permit Program application does not require any original documents, which means that, for this business line, documents that were previously accepted as photocopies are now accepted as scanned documents. Overall, there is no increased risk in accepting scanned documents. In the current paper process, CIC accepts photocopies. If there are any doubts regarding the legitimacy of these photocopies, the processor can request to see the original. This will hold true for scanned documents in the new process. That is, if a processor has any doubt regarding a submitted scanned document, they will be able to request to see the original.
