Is there an increased emphasis on pedagogic scholarship and research at stage two?
No. We invited institutions at stage one to show how teaching and learning excellence are supported by scholarship and research. The assessment panel felt that comparatively little was said about this in stage one bids, hence the emphasis in feedback and at the development day. We expect pedagogic scholarship and research to underpin the work and objectives of CETLs so that knowledge of excellence – how and why it succeeds – grows and is shared with others. Whatever their starting point in terms of existing scholarship, we expect all CETLs to show how they will engage with scholarship and research to underpin teaching and learning over the lifetime of the CETL.
