Is there an increased demand for Telecommunications Technicians?
The answer to this question is yes and no. For strictly cable technicians, there is actually a decreased demand; for wireless technicians, there is an increased demand. Telecommunications technicians maintain, and upgrade cable systems. These include fixed and mobile telephone networks, fax machines, cable, satellite and digital television networks and computer networks with email, Internet access and shared databases. They also perform repair work and respond to service problems at the homes of cable users. Their main goal is to keep a cable system operating efficiently. Some of the many jobs these professionals perform include assessing the telecommunications needs of customers, planning and installing systems for them, laying and connecting underground cables, running wires and connections from exchanges, telephone poles and underground cables, installing the electronic equipment which controls the routing of electronic signals, data and telephone calls, working with digital and sat
