Is there an expat community in North Korea?
There are now around 140 resident foreigners in Pyongyang excluding Russians and Chinese. Most are Embassy staff, NGO workers, staff from the UN, World Food Programme, etc and assorted others including 3 English teachers at Kim Il Sung University, a Bank Manager, and even the one remaining US defector to DPRK – Pyongyang’s longest serving foreign resident and the subject of our latest documentary film ‘Crossing the Line’.
