Is there an environmental concern with using mushroom compost?
The mushroom industry is fortunate because it produces a product that is environmentally benign. Most heavy metals in our mushroom compost are too low to even be detected in lab analysis. Those that can be detected are well below acceptable levels. Mushroom compost is quite alkaline, which reduces the likelihood that heavy metals will be released into the environment.
