More than 70% of those surveyed said they favor or strongly favor limiting the amount of money individuals and political action committees can contribute to candidates. Nearly 70% said they favor or strongly favor limiting contributions from individuals and organizations outside of the district. And 72% said they favor or strongly favor limits on how much candidates can contribute to their own campaigns. There was less support for using public funds for political campaigns. Just over 50% said they oppose or strongly oppose publicly funded campaigns. Generally, middle-aged, higher income college graduates said they are supportive of public financing. The only demographic group that strongly or somewhat strongly favors publicly funded campaigns was college graduates.
