Is there an alternative to MS Outlook for accessing an Exchange Server account on Windows XP?”

0

Linux users forced to use MS Exchange us e-mail client called Evolution. It has a special plugin for Exchange. Evolution could be run on Windows as well: http://shellter.sourceforge.net/evolution/ If your local system administrator would enable POP3 or IMAP protocol on Exchange server then you could use any mail client on Windows as these protocols are supported everywhere. Unfortunately many sysadmins do not turn POp3 or IMAP on as this is often restricted by company policy.

Evolution on Win32 is a free program that will connect with the exchange server and is described here: http://shellter.sourceforge.net/evolution/ The download is available here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=159440&package_id=194380&release_id=492523 If POP3 access is enabled for the exchange server, there are of course any number of email clients available that might meet your needs, the most trusted and common being Thunderbird available from http://www.mozilla.com. Hope that helps!
