Is there an alternative to Clove oil for fish euthanasia?
Putting it in a bag with no water to SUFFOCATE is better then cutting it’s head off and ending it quickly? Oh my gosh. Also, PLEASE don’t flush it. It does not kill it right away and then the poor thing has to suffer and die whilst lying in sewage. How can that be kind?? You shouldn’t flush fish at all, whether they are dead or not. Put them in a bag and throw them in the garbage bin (or bury them if you have kids). When you have kids that have to bury their pets, it’s a good idea to use some coffee grinds on top of the animal before you cover it up. It’s said the coffee grinds will hide the smell and lessen the chance of Rover finding it. I definately would not let the poor thing suffocate in a bag with no water (wow, this really got to me, how horrible….in my opinion). And I personally cannot bring myself to cut its head off, although it is fast and they suffer very little if at all.
