Is there an age requirement for adoptive parents?
You must be at least 21 years old. It is difficult to generalize about upper age limits for adoptive parents, since agencies have differing policies. In general, it is preferred that an applicant not be more than 40 years older than the child they wish to adopt. Exceptions are made on age limits if the adoption is determined to be in the best interest of the child.
