Is there an age limit to neutering tom cats?
no age limit as long as he is healthy enough to go under anesthetic, however at his age there is a good chance it wont entirely break him of spraying. Cats start spraying when they get the hormonal urges to, but once they’ve started it becomes a learned behavior that is hard to stop. After he is fixed keep a spray bottle handy and spray him anytime he looks like he’s going to spray (backs up to something with the tail standing straight up and stiff) then make sure that each spot that he sprays is thoroughly cleaned with an enzyme cleaner (take a look at your local pet store) you need to nuetralize the hormones in his urine so that he wont smell it anymore, also don’t use amonia, as it is very similar in smell to urine and will encourage repeated spraying. make sure not to leave piles of clothes or blankets on the ground to remove temptation. Good Luck!
