Pregnancy does not increase the chance of catching swine flu -the majority of pregnant women if they catch swine flu they will make full recovery with no complications. Some pregnant women who catch swine flu virus may develop complications of the infection that can put their own and their baby’s health at risk. Pregnant women should avoid close contact with people who have symptoms of swine flu. If they develop swine flu symptoms they are one of the groups advised to contact their GP directly rather than the National Pandemic Flu Service.
