Is there a work obligation associated with tuition scholarships?
No, there is not a work obligation. However, all of our students in the M.D.E. program are expected to volunteer 4 hrs/week during their first year of study in the NCCD. The purpose of the service opportunity is to provide our students with the opportunity to gain an enhanced understanding of the challenges facing children with hearing loss and their families. These volunteer hours can be obtained in a number of ways including assisting in the Mama Lere Hearing School, working in a research laboratory conducting research in the area of infants and children with hearing loss, or assisting with the newborn hearing screening program.
