The first site lists the top 10 books according to Publisher’s Weekly from 1900 through 1995 and the second list has the New York Times list of books listed from 1997 to 2006. http://www.caderbooks.com/bestintro.html, http://www.nytimes.com/ref/books/review/20061210tenbestbooks.html There are actually several ways of determining bestsellers, and lists are determined per country, not world-wide. The New York Times and the Publishers Weekly list shown here are indicative of US sales only. Some sources also separate hardbound books from soft cover books to determine sales. Some lists, like USA Today combine all books (fiction & non-fiction) while some (such as the NY Times) have a separate list for each.
