Is there a way to stop horse box walking?
Edit~ OK, she gets out through the day. That is a great start, but obviously she is still very stressed in her living arrangement. Does she show any odd stress behaviors in the field? If so, then I’d start looking for causes of that stress, and I still suspect ulcers. Does she have enough hay through the night? There are slow feeders that only allow a horse to eat their hay much slower than normal, so the same amount of hay lasts a longer time. I’ve heard of and seen pics of lots of designs, both home-made and store-bought. Webcams are pretty cheap these days, you could set one up in her stall (if you can’t get her out 24/7) and see when she starts the walking, if it’s only after she has finished her hay. Some OTTBs are so mentally fractured from the track life that it would take an equine psychiatrist to figure out their problem (but then they’d probably only prescribe drugs anyway, instead of improving the horse’s quality of life so it can regain mental health).
