Yes, there is a way to specify a different default directory. You would need to change the “virtual machineserverd.vpx.defaultVmDir” property in the /etc/vmware/config file on each ESX Server so that it points to the new default directory. The configuration change will only take effect after restarting the ccagent; disconnecting and reconnecting the ESX Server to the VirtualCenter Management Server will automatically restart the ccagent.
