I can’t think of any. The builder has costs and the sooner that they finish the house, the better for them. In this market, I would focus on how to get the home sold quickly. In our contract, when issue a 30 day notice that the home will be finished and that settlement MUST occur within this 30 day period. If the buyer doesn’t settle on time, we have the right to charge them 1/2% of the sales price per day until settlement occurs. In addition, unless the contract states that the contract is contingent on the sale of a old house, not selling the old house IS NOT grounds to delay settlement. Nor is our contract contingent on financing beyond the approval, based on credit.
