You could paint them with clear varnish but think seriously before you steal rocks from the places you visit. You may be breaking the law; in any case you will be depriving others the pleasure of them.

You cud put them in the dryer in an old pillowcase with the rock polishing stuff and then add a couple of old towels to the dryer. It will be noisy! Put your dryer on tumble dry setting-no heat.
