There are many products out there for leaks. Some claim that they can patch any leak in any material. Any patch you attempt will only be temporary. Once you crack porcelain, the crack will only get bigger, just like in the windshield of your car. When the crack expands beyond your patch job, it will begin to leak again. The crack will expand because of the weight shifts in emptying and filling the tank with every flush. The worst case scenario is springing a large leak while you are out. You could come back to thousands of dollars worth of flooring damage, and even more if it is not on the lowest floor of the house. Replacing the tank is your best bet, and it is a relatively easy project. Have plenty of towels on hand because water will spill. Be careful not to crack the new tank during installation.
