Is there a way to edit an MS Publisher file in OpenOffice?
I have a lot of MS Publisher files that I need to edit from time to time and I’m fed up with MS Publisher. OpenOffice.org Draw works much better for me for new docs but can’t seem to open my MS Pub files. These MS Pub files contain both graphic items and text items and I need a way to edit both the graphic and text items so converting to a flat image file like .gif won’t let me edit the text and trying to go through a text based application like Word loses the graphics. I tried zamzam.com but got the error that it doesn’t convert .pub files. The files are all relatively simple so I could just rebuild them manually in OpenOffice but it’ll take time; however, I’ve had too many problem trying to interface with MS Pub from other programs, especially outside the MS Office Suite, that at this point I have to question the value of building new MS Pub files if my plan is to move away from the MS Pub and other MS Office applications.
