Is there a way of controlling my xbox through my windows pc using vnc viewer or another network client program?
A1: You can telnet into your XBox while running Emergency Linux, or possibly even Xebian (I haven’t tried it). Then you would have access to your XBox’s command prompt and can do anything necessary from there. A2: If you’re trying to control a Linux session running on the XBox, then yes, VNC server(s) are available for Linux. Most distros support Xwindows, telnet, and Secure Shell out of the box. If you want to control a non-Linux, retail XBox game remotely, then of course not, since Linux would not be running.
