Is there a way I can lock the programs or prevent kids or others from accessing my adult DesktopMates characters?
If you’re using XP it’s possible to hide and prevent usage of certain character files from other users on your system. First you need to create an account for other users on your system but don’t give them admin privileges. Then log on as admin and go to C:\Windows\Msagent\chars and then right click on the character file you would like to hide and select “Properties” and then check the “Hidden” box and then click “Apply”. This will hide the file from users that don’t have admin privileges. You’ll also need to password protect your personal log on that has admin privileges. Another alternative is software that allows you to lock any programs on your system such CyberBuddy or Ultra Hal while your not present. There’s a Freeware program called ExeLock which allows you to password protect Windows executable programs.
